Questions about tantowel

A. After a bath or shower when the body is free of residual oils. For the best results, do not use any bath/shower gels or lotions. The oil in these products can interfere with the DHA tanning agent.

 

Q. Can I use X-foliator before tanning? 

A. Yes, X-foliator can safely be used to clean skin before applying tantowel. Allow your skin to completely dry before applying tanning agent. Exfoliation is recommended before tanning for a smooth, even tan.

 

Q. What is the difference between tantowel and tantowel plus?

A. DHA reacts differently on every individual and can be affected by medications, etc. In general, tantowel should be used when you want to build a tan gradually, or have fair skin. You may need to apply a tantowel two days in a row until the desired level of color is achieved. Use tantowel plus when you need a faster, deeper tan or have an olive complection. You may also use tt plus to achieve a base, then tantowel to touch up or add just a little more color where needed, or use 'On the Glow' or 'Tanning Mist' with any of the products to customize your application.

 

Q. How do I apply tantowel?

A. Either unfold the towel and use like a washcloth, or unfold, fold in half and unfold as you go. Start with larger areas, and end up with hands and feet.

 

Q. Are there areas I should avoid when applying tantowel?

A. Do not apply to the bottoms of feet or palms. Take extra care when applying close to rough areas like heels. Some people stop just short of this area and apply a regular moisturizer to this area to 'blend' the tanning agent into the heel area.

 

Q. Should I wash my hands after applying?

A. We suggest wiping palms and bottoms of feet and heels with a very wet washcloth. Washing hands completely could leave the backs of your hands untanned.

 

Q. How many tantowels will it take to cover the body?

A. . In general, 2 small towelettes. One will cover the face, chest, and arms, and one for both legs.

Evolution and evolution plus are large enough to cover the whole body, however if you are also tanning your trunk, you may want to use a separate small towelette for that area. If you feel the towelette is getting to dry, apply Tantowel Tanning Mist either directly to the body or towelette. .

 

Q. How often should I apply tantowel?

A. Most people find their 'tan' will last about 5 days. However, you can maintain a more consistant level by exfoliating and reapplying every 4 days, or using On the Glow daily to maintain your tan between applications of Tantowel.

 

Q. Can I moisturize after applying tantowel?

A. Moisturizing is a very important part of keeping your tan natural looking, You may apply either 'On the Glow' or 'Moisture Mist' immediately after applying Tantowel towelettes. However, regular moisturizers are not recommended for at least 4 hours after applying tantowel. 

 

Q. Will tantowel streak or stain clothing?

A. No! If you totally miss a spot, you will notice, so apply with care. However, this is not 'streaking'. Tantowel dries in seconds, and is therefore safe to use before dressing or going to bed.

 

Q. Will tan towel give me that strange chemical smell that most self tanners do?

A. The chemical reaction between the DHA and the skin is what causes most odors. However, because Tantowels contain a small percentage of DHA, most people will notice none or little of the normal odor associated with self tanners.

 

Q. Do tantowels contain a sunscreen?

A. No. Sunscreen should always be worn, even if you have a beautiful 'Tantowel' tan!
